It's Over...Jay Stays for 26 days!!!
In spite of freezing temperatures, blowing snow, flooding and a minor assault, Jason Craig has done it. He has managed to stay in the Porta-Potty for 26 days to raise money for local charities. In total, just over $4000 was raised from donations at the portapotty. Jason spent the first 24 1/2 days at the Citgo on Rt. 16 and then was moved on Thanksgiving Day to the Mattoon Super Wal-Mart for Thanksgiving and the day after. A special thank you goes out to all the people that stopped and dropped a few coins in the bucket and just stayed around to talk. Through your donations, many children will be having a truly Merry Christmas this year.

Where the Money Raised is Going
The money that is raised by this event will go to several different local organizations that help children, especially at Christmas. Operation Sleighride, a function of the Mattoon Fire Department, that takes needy kids shopping at Christmas, The TLC School Coke Fund, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Shop with a Cop and WMCI Christmas Kids are just a few places where the money will be donated. |
Who Else is Helping
Ridings-Xamis-Crews of Shelbyville is assisting with donating a car to be raffled off for Operation Sleighride. Only 200 tickets will be sold for each to win a 2004 Dodge Stratus. the winner may have their choice of the car or $15,000 cash. Tickets are available at the Mattoon Fire Department,at the Port-A-Potty with Big Jay and at the Riding-Xamis-Crews Dealership located at 401 North Cedar and RT 128 North in Shelbyville.
